The NFL free agency frenzy is in full swing for the 2012 season. Of course the big name in free agency, Peyton Manning is still without a team but players are on the move. This article will cover free agency news for the AFC West.

Kansas City Chiefs Free Agency News

Peyton Hillis has signed with the Kansas City Chiefs and returns to the AFC West. Hillis went from beast to bust in Cleveland. Few players have felt the Madden Curse as much as Peyton Hillis. Do the Chiefs get a battering ram reminding fans of Christian Okoye? Or do they get the Peyton Hillis that would not play while sick? Only time will tell.

Some Kansas City Chiefs of note who have hit free agency are Kyle Orton, Tyler Palko, Casey Wiegmann and Thomas Jones. Of course the Kansas City Chiefs are in pursuit of Peyton Manning but it isn’t looking like he will sign with them.

Denver Broncos Free Agency News

The Broncos are thought to be one of the favorites to sign Peyton Manning but hard sell jobs by the Titans and Cardinals may keep him away from Denver. Kicker Matt Prater was given the franchise tag. Brian Dawkins and Brady Quinn are Broncos of note who are testing free agency. Quinn will find a backup spot somewhere but I wonder if Dawkins is done after a great NFL career. Lance Ball, Chris Clark and Britton Colquitt were restricted free agents resigned by the Broncos.

Oakland Raiders Free Agency News

Former starting quarterback Jason Campbell has signed to be Jay Cutler’s backup in Chicago. The Raiders have not been busy in free agency due to salary cap issues which saw them cut several players and restructure some contracts. Some Oakland Raider free agents of note are Michael Bush, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, and Lito Sheppard.

San Diego Chargers Free Agency News

Vincent Jackson signed a huge deal to become a Tampa Bay Buccaneer. To replace Jackson the Chargers signed former New Orleans Saint, Robert Meacham. The Chargers have resigned offensive linemen Nick Hardwick and Jared Gaither. Some notable Chargers who entered free agency are Na’il Diggs, Tommie Harris, Mike Tolbert and Jacob Hester. With both Hester and Tolbert probably leaving the team look for the Chargers to draft and sign some running backs.

Feel free to leave a comment about how you think your favorite AFC West team is doing in free agency. And come back here soon for more 2012 NFL free agency and draft news.
