Tin Tebow has been traded to the New York Jets, twice! The Jets traded for Tebow earlier today then nixed the trade because of a clause in Tebow’s contract that would force them to pay the Broncos $5 million.
Then the Jaguars tried to trade for Tim Tebow and the Broncos apparently let Tebow choose between the Jaguars and Jets. Tim Tebow chose to play for the Jets and not the hometown Jacksonville Jaguars. Tim Tebow the ultimate NFL Christian has been traded to the trash talking foul mouthed New York Jets. The Jets and Broncos have done their second Tim Tebow trade of the day and its official this time. Denver gets the Jets fourth, and sixth round picks and the Jets get a 7th rounder and Tim Tebow. The two teams will spit the difference in the five million with the Jets paying half to the Broncos.
Of course the Broncos wanted out of the Tim Tebow media circus after adding the Peyton Manning media circus to their team. The Broncos get to save face by trading a much loved but not very good quarterback because hey they got Peyton Manning.
The Jets may let Tim Tebow run some wildcat formations and or play goal line offense. Look for Tim Tebow to also start learning a new position such as fullback or tight end. I do not see the Jets trading for Tim Tebow to compete with Mark Sanchez.
In other Denver Broncos news they have signed former Cincinnati Bengal wide receiver Andre Caldwell. Peyton Manning will be attracting wide receivers and Caldwel ladds some much needed speed to the Broncos receiving unit.
The Kansas City Chiefs have been a little busy in NFL free agency. Signing Peyton Hillis was followed up with tight end Kevin Boss and quarterback Brady Quinn. Boss adds some talent to the tight end position and Quinn can be a capable backup. Quinn was a bust in Cleveland but rejoins some of their staff from his days there, since they are now in Kansas City.
The Oakland Raiders are still doing cap moves and cut starting guard Cooper Carlisle and backup defensive tackle John Henderson. The team also restructured Aaron Curry’s contract. The Raiders started some free agency moves as well adding cornerback Ron Bartell and offensive lineman Mike Brisiel. Look for the Raiders to sign a player here and there but they don’t have much cap space to play with,
The San Diego Chargers signed former Bronco Eddie Royal to join their return game and be a reserve wide receiver. Royal will in no way replace Vincent Jackson but he is a decent player. Billy Volek was released to make room for the return of Charlie Whitehurst. Whitehurst was a bust after being traded from the Chargers to the Seahawks and now he returns to San Diego. Free agent running back Jackie Battle has visited the Chargers and they may sign the former Chief. Mike Tolbert has signed a four year contract with the Carolina Panthers so the Chargers need to replace him.
