Thanks for reading my AFC West draft needs article on This article will break down what I think the needs for each AFC West team are heading into the 2012 NFL draft. Feel free to join me here and at the AFC West team pages on for live NFL draft coverage on Thursday April 26th 2012.

Oakland Raiders 2012 Draft Needs

The Raiders need overall depth but of course have traded many of their 2012 NFL draft picks away. Oakland needs offensive line depth and they always seem to draft a speedy wideout but maybe not this year since Al Davis is no longer with us. It is possible the Raiders may trade back into an earlier round to get an extra pick this season. The Raiders may look to draft a tight end as early as possible because that may be their biggest weakness.

San Diego Chargers 2012 Draft Needs

The biggest draft needs for the Chargers are running back and offensive line in my opinion. The Chargers need depth at running back after Mike Tolbert signed with the Panthers. They did add fullback Le’Ron McClain but need to add at least one tailback type. The Chargers have signed a lot of wide receivers this off season but have said that offensive line would be a priority.

Kansas City Chiefs 2012 Draft Needs

The Chiefs biggest draft need may be quarterback to compete with Matt Cassel whom the current regime has fell out of favor with. Ryan Tannehill has been mentioned as a possible pick by the Chiefs in the first round. I think cornerback is a high draft priority for the Chiefs and if a top CB drops to them they will make that pick. A blocker eating nose tackle should be high on the team’s wish list and the draft is fairly deep at the position.

Denver Broncos 2012 Draft Needs

You may think the Broncos will want to add a top rookie wide receiver to help out Peyton Manning. Two things are that one rookie wideouts seldom play very well and two John Fox coaches this team. The first offensive player the Broncos draft will be a running back or offensive lineman. John Fox loves defense and ball control even with Peyton Manning as the Broncos quarterback. Look for the Broncos to draft a defensive tackle or a cornerback in the first round. The team has already stated that they wished to add a running back so that will be addressed by the Broncos in the 2012 NFL draft.
