AFC West News and Notes

Thanks for checking out my news and notes abou the AFC West Division. As we prepare for next week’s NFL draft I will list some of the team news for the Broncos, Chargers, Chiefs and Raiders.

Denver Bronco News and Notes

Peyton Manning has brought the Indianapolis Colts offense to Denver with him. Out is the John Fox offense that brought back images of Marty Ball or Ground Chuck (Knox) and in is the offense that Peyton Manning ran inIndianapolis. The offense will be the same fast paced and no huddle offense that Manning coached and played in while with the Colts. The big problem is the same one the Broncos faced with Tim Tebow and the spread last year. No other quarterback is going to be well versed in the offense should Peyton Manning go down.

In other Denver Broncos news former Manning teammate with the Colts and former Bronco Brandon Stokley has signed with the team. Brian Iwuh retired and Andre Goodman was released by the Broncos.

Kansas City Chiefs News and Notes

After a very busy early free agency period the Chiefs have slowed down to prepare for the 2012 NFL draft. The team did resign Travis Daniels who was a free agent before his new deal.

The Chiefs are still acting lukewarm towards Matt Cassel whose days in Kansas City are numbered if he does not have a good season in 2012. Look for the Chiefs to take a quarterback at some point if not in the first round.

San Diego Charges News and Notes

The Chargers addressed the much needed running back position by resigning Jacob Hester to a one year deal. I still think the Chargers will draft a running back or two to add depth and to help special teams. Former Charger bust Ryan Leaf has four new felony charges to face inMontana. Just think some people thought Leaf would be better than Peyton Manning when they came out.

Oakland Raiders News and Notes

Former Oakland Raider running back Napoleon Kaufman has rejoined them as the new team Chaplin. Andre Hardy a former college basketball player has joined the Raiders as a free agent. Matt Giordano has resigned to play safety again for the Raiders. Good news for the silver and black, Darren McFadden is participating in all the team workouts. A healthy McFadden is a must if the Raiders are to improve in 2012.
