Can Tim Tebow lead the Broncos to being AFC West champions in 2012? Assuming Tim Tebow is even the starter in Denver he will have his work cut out for him if the Broncos are to repeat as champions.
John Elway has made it clear that Tim Tebow will have to compete for the starting job with the Broncos. But no matter who the Denver Broncos quarterback is he will have a good defense backing him up. John Fox and new defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio will have the Broncos in good shape on that side of the ball in 2012.
The problem that Tim Tebow and the Broncos face in regards to repeating as AFC West champions is the talent level in the division. From a player standpoint the teams are evenly matched up.
The San Diego Chargers as always are inconsistent but have the best quarterback in the division in Phillip Rivers. The Chargers have expressed the desire to strengthen the offensive line to help Rivers .San Diego’s defense leaves a little to be desired but if Rivers has a good season I expect the Chargers to win the division in 2012
The Kansas City Chiefs seemed to be playing badly to get rid of their coach in 2011 and it worked. The Chiefs have the talent and seem to be drafting well enough to win the AFC West in 2012. The Chiefs continue to model the team after the Patriots and have a huge amount of salary cap space if they want to use it.
The Oakland Raiders could make some noise in the AFC West but once again are breaking in a new coach. The good news for the Raiders is that their new coach was withDenverlast year and knows the AFC West. The Raiders are one of those teams that could go 4-12 or 12-4 and neither would surprise me.
I really see the AFC West as being super competitive in 2012 and for the division race to go down to the final week of the season. But for my prediction I don’t see Tim Tebow and the Broncos repeating as champions. I think the Chargers will rebound to win the division and then lose in the first round of the playoffs like they always do when they make the postseason. Of course who wins the division could come down to injuries as well because if Rivers goes down so do the Chargers.
